Srinagar, Apr 08 : As the auspicious occasion of Eid ul Fitr draws near, the major markets across Kashmir are bustling with excitement and fervor as shoppers flood the markets to prepare for the celebrations.
Across the valley, markets have transformed into vibrant hubs of activity, adorned with colorful decorations and illuminated with the spirit of the festival.
According to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), from traditional markets to modern shopping centers, the streets are alive with the hustle and bustle of eager shoppers. The air is filled with the aroma of delicious sweets and savory delicacies, adding to the festive ambiance.
Among the shoppers, one of the locals from Srinagar Khanyar told KNO, every year, the atmosphere during Eid ul Fitr becomes electrifying in Kashmir. “It’s not just about shopping; it’s a time when families come together, and the entire community rejoices,” says Muneer.
He added that we look forward to Eid ul Fitr every year. It’s a time when we get to showcase our culture through our traditional attire and customs.
Alongside local Fayiq Ahmad, echoing the sentiment while saying the market rush is huge this year, while there is a sense of joy and camaraderie everywhere you go.
Also, a shop owner in downtown Srinagar added, during Eid ul Fitr, we see a surge in customers looking for traditional Kashmiri attire. “People want to look their best for the celebrations, and our shops are brimming with a variety of options to cater to their needs,” he added.
Moreover, amidst the hustle and bustle, the spirit of unity and brotherhood prevails, with people from all walks of life coming together to celebrate the joyous festival. KNO spoke to many shopkeepers at Lal Chowk and around, who stated that they are expecting more rise in the customers on Tuesday, which is likely to be observed as Youm-ul-Arafa, a day before Eid-ul-Fitr
