Poonch, Sep 01: The Poonch administration has ordered the closure of all government and private schools across the district on Tuesday as a precautionary measure amid heavy rainfall.
Chief Education Officer Poonch Javed Gulshan said heavy rains have been lashing the district since morning, raising the possibility of a rise in water levels in rivers and streams.
“In view of the prevailing weather conditions and keeping the safety of students and teachers in mind, all government and private educational institutions across Poonch district will remain closed today,” he said.
The administration said the decision has been taken as a precautionary measure to avoid any risk to students and staff amid the inclement weather.
Gulshan said a decision regarding the reopening of schools on Wednesday would be taken after assessing the weather conditions. He added that educational institutions would reopen only if there is sufficient improvement in the weather.
The administration has also urged people to remain alert and follow advisories issued by the concerned authorities.
