Congress leader Kadfeen Choudhary on Saturday demanded that the political leaders imprisoned post August 5; last year must be set free by the government so that they could celebrate the festivity of Eid with their families.
Kadfeen said that there are scores of political leaders who have been jailed by the present regime after the abrogation of Article 370 and downgrading of the state to a union territory. He said that the majority amongst the detainees have been slapped with the PSA on flimsy grounds and that those at the helm must rack their brains to understand that such actions cannot be justified for long on any podium.
Kadfeen said that that with just a week left for the sacred festival of Eid to arrive, the government should release the political leaders and their incarceration must end at the earliest so that they could spend the festival with their families.
According to the Congress leader, the Macho approach has been yielding no desired results and instead is turning the already volatile situation from bad to worse. He added that the political reach out and not confrontational approach is need of the hour to make peace a sustainable feature. He said that a beginning in this process can be made by setting free the political leaders and goodwill by such a decision can be created in Jammu and Kashmir’s political spectrum. Or else, said Kadfeen, Ostrich will plunge JK into further chaos and disarray.
