Srinagar, Aug 20: Apni Party president Altaf Bukhari has welcomed US Ambassador to India Sergio Gor’s remarks describing Jammu and Kashmir as an “important part of India” and an “incredibly beautiful place,” saying the comments are significant and could help strengthen recognition of J&K’s place within India while opening avenues for greater US engagement, including a possible review of its travel advisory for the region.

In a post on X, Altaf Bukhari wrote, “US Ambassador Sergio Gor’s recognition that J&K is an “important part of India” is highly significant. It reflects Washington’s acknowledgement of India’s position on Jammu and Kashmir.”

“One hopes that Gor’s remarks will also help raise awareness in our country and strengthen the case for ensuring that J&K receives the rights, attention, and recognition it deserves as an equal and important part of the nation”, he added.

He further wrote, “The Ambassador’s indication that Washington could review its travel advisory for J&K is also significant. It gives hope and reflects a recognition of the positive changes taking place on the ground in Jammu and Kashmir.”

“Sergio Gor rightly described J&K as “an incredibly beautiful place.” His remarks are encouraging and give hope that the US could support efforts to further explore and develop the vast potential of this region,” Bukhari said.

“I urge the Central Government to explore ways to secure technological support from the US to unlock the potential of various sectors in J&K. For instance, we could consider introducing advanced American horticultural technologies that are being used to improve productivity. These technologies use modern tools such as smart automation, precision sensors, and robotics to increase crop yields while conserving water,” the post reads.

“Overall, the US diplomat’s visit to J&K was highly encouraging and significant, with implications that go beyond the immediate diplomatic engagement,” he added.
