Altaf Hussain Haji has joined as Deputy Director General (DDG), National Statistical Office (Field Operations Division) virtually for Kolkata, West Bengal at Srinagar on June 19, 2020. The order to this effect was issued by Ministry of Statistics and Program Implementation, Government of India from promotion for ISS officer on May 25, 2020.
The Ministry of Statistics and Program Implementation, Government of India is the cadre-controlling authority of Indian Statistical Services. Altaf Hussain joined service in 2001 after qualifying the Indian Statistical Service (ISS) Examination 2000 conducted by the Union Public Service Commission.
Haji has made significant contributions in the capacity of Regional Assistant Director, Deputy Director, Joint Director and Director & CPIO Jammu and Kashmir towards the smooth conduct of various types of surveys in Kashmir region since 2004. These surveys are crucial for planning and policy formation at both the Central and State government levels. Haji is the only ISS Officer from Kashmir region. His contribution towards conduct of socio-economic surveys is especially praiseworthy –(KNO)
