Amit Shah to visit Jammu and Kashmir on October 22

Union Home Minister Amit Shah will visit Jammu and Kashmir this month amid targeted civilian killings in the state.

The home minister will arrive in Srinagar on Saturday on a three-day visit to the state for the first time since the abrogation of Article 370 of the Constitution in August 2019 to end the region’s semi-autonomous status.

Shah will preside over security review meetings, address panchayat members and political activists.

Security has been tightened across the Valley as security forces have stepped up investigation and search, especially in Srinagar. The Jammu and Kashmir Police has said that security forces have “killed” 17 militants in 10 encounters in the Valley amid the latest phase of violence.
