Srinagar: A case was pending adjudication before the Court of Special Judge Anti-Corruption Srinagar which culminated Monday in conviction of the accused Mohammad Ashraf Wani S/o Abdul Aziz R/o Chogul Handwara the then Joint Director (Adm) in Directorate of Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution Department Kashmir, Srinagar.
According to a statement the accused public servant has been found guilty vide judgment dated 25-08-2017, by the Judge Yash Paul Bourney, under Section 5(1) (d) r/w 5(2) of P.C Act and was sentenced to undergo rigorous imprisonment for two years and also to pay a fine of Rs. 10,000/- further he has to undergo six months rigorous imprisonment for offence punishable under Sec. 161 RPC both the sentences shall run concurrently.
The accused public servant was caught red handed on 24-11-2011 while demanding and accepting an amount of Rs. 10,000/- as illegal gratification from one Bashir Ahmad Koul (Complainant) S/o Haji Assad-ullah Koul R/o Wandhama Lar Ganderbal, the then Storekeeper in CAPD department Ganderbal for making his posting, the statement said.
