Srinagar, Feb 07 : Former Parliamentary member and senior Congress leader Tariq Hameed Karra on Monday termed the ongoing eviction drive as anti-people and arbitrary and that motive behind it is more than what a naked eye can see.
Taking to microblogging site Twitter, Karra in a series of Tweets said the government also knows that they are earning further discontent and alienation by using bulldozer suppressive and oppressive measures.
He said Article 112 of limitation act 1963 prescribes a limitation period of 30 years for the institution of the suit by or on behalf of the Central or State Government including the Government of Jammu Kashmir except a suit before the Supreme Court in exercise of its original Jurisdiction.
“It means if a person is holding a piece of Government land for an uninterrupted period of more than 30 yrs, such person can not be dispossessed, as the person in question becomes possessor of land by doctrine of adverse possession,” he said.
He further said to him it seems the actual motive behind administration’s anti-people, arbitrary & proactive approach has more that what a naked eye can see.
