PDP leader and constuiency incharge habba kadal said It is with great concern that I address the issue of increasing immoral solicitation and sexual exploitation in our region.
I am deeply troubled by the numerous press reports of women being subjected to immoral solicitation and abuse by both locals and non-locals in Jammu and Kashmir.
Immoral solicitation is a complex issue with multiple underlying factors, including poverty, unemployment, lack of education, gender-based violence, and political instability. It is a problem that requires a collaborative effort from all stakeholders, including the government, civil society, and the general public. Therefore, the key step in eradicating this menacing practice is accountability at the individual level. If citizens suspect that a member of their community, whether local or otherwise, is involved in these acts, they have an obligation to report it to the relevant authorities for necessary action to be taken.
We must also stand committed to working with other stakeholders to address this issue. We must prioritize the protection of vulnerable populations, including women and children, and work towards creating an environment where immoral solicitation is not tolerated.
Laigaroo call on the government to ensure that our law enforcement agencies are equipped and empowered to effectively investigate and prosecute those involved in immoral solicitation and sexual exploitation, including those who pay for such services. We need to work towards creating a society where criminals are not able to operate with impunity.
Moreover, we must focus on empowering our citizens, particularly women, through education and economic opportunities. By providing education and employment opportunities, we can create a society that is more resilient to immoral solicitation.
Laigaroo call on all citizens of Jammu and Kashmir to work together to tackle this issue. We must come together as a community to address the root causes of sexual exploitation and work towards creating a safe and just society for all.
