Handwara July 11 : Kargil Vijay Diwas is commemorated every 26 July to observe India’s victory over Pakistan in the Kargil War for ousting Pakistani Forces from their occupied positions on the mountain tops of Northern Kargil District in Ladakh in 1999. It is a symbol of victory, bravery & glory for the Indian Army.
35 Rashtriya Rifles Battalion celebrated Kargil Vijay Diwas as part of sub celebrations on 11 July 2023 at Army Goodwill School Naugam to pay tribute to the martyrs & also remember the true heroes of our nation who laid down their lives for our better tomorrow..
The event comprised of Quiz competition, painting competition, flag hoisting & cultural program based on Kargil Vijay Diwas theme.
Students from various schools of Naugam, Lawoosa, Reshwari & Pothwari region participated with great enthusiasm to commemorate the event.
The event was attended by students, teachers, Ex Servicemen from the AoR of Naugam Brigade, Sarpanchs & Deputy Sarpanch, locals from villages & Army Personnel.
The event concluded with the Prize Felicitation by the Commander 17 Infantry Brigade to the winners & runners up of Quiz & Painting Competition, participants of cultural program & Ex Service Personals.
The complete event received an overwhelming response & appreciation from the locals.
