The samples of two more patients in Ladakh have tested positive, taking the number of COVID-19 patients in the UT to eight, officials said on Wednesday.
Commissioner Secretary Rigzin Samphel said that those who tested positive include the relatives of a person who has already tested positive for COVID-19.
He said that both the patients have been kept in isolation. One of these new patients is an army man.
“He is a Ladakh Scouts personnel, however he was on leave and hadn’t been in contact with other personnel at his camp. The army man was in contact with his father who recently arrived from Iran,” Samphel said.
“We have asked the officials at Ladakh Scouts in Leh to take precautions.”
He said that Kargil administration has imposed prohibitory orders under section 144 in the district and the Leh district administration was also going to issue similar orders.
Meanwhile, District Magistrate Kargil has issued several directions under National Disaster Management Act, 2005.
The order reads that all Restaurants/Dhabas, Food Courts, Food Stalls, Roadside Eateries etc. shall remain closed in Kargil district till further orders. No social, religious or ritualistic events shall be held at any public/community/religious place in the district involving a gathering of more than 4 people till further orders.
