Boniyar, Aug 16 : In a significant outreach initiative on the occasion of Independence Day, the Indian Army organised a series of medical camps in remote and underserved villages of Boniyar in Baramulla district, officials said on Sunday.
The camps were held at Gagar Hill, Tilpatra Bahek, Korali, Jabri and Chotali, providing residents with access to essential healthcare services closer to their homes, they said.
Army medical teams conducted consultations, basic health screenings and treatment for common ailments, besides distributing essential medicines. The camps also focused on preventive healthcare and health awareness, covering personal hygiene, nutrition, sanitation and the importance of seeking timely medical attention, an official spokesperson said.
The initiative aimed to improve access to healthcare for communities living in remote areas while further strengthening the bond between the Army and the local population, the spokesperson added.
Conducted in the spirit of Independence Day, the outreach programme reflected the Indian Army’s ethos of “Service Before Self” and its continued commitment to the welfare and well-being of people in the region, officials said.
Such initiatives also contribute towards strengthening civil-military cooperation, public goodwill and community engagement in remote areas of North Kashmir, they added. (KNS)
