Poonch, Sep 04 : Army on Friday rescued a minor girl after she was found floating in Mendhar Nala in Mankote sector of Poonch district.
Officials told that today afternoon, army of forward post observed an unidentified girl, aged about 14-16 years, floating in Mendhar Nala from Balnoi towards Roshni-Mandi gap on way to Pakistan side.
Indian army of 30 Punjab regiment soldiers immediately jumped into the nala and pulled her out in an unconscious state at Katra post, they said.
She was later evacuated to PHC Mankote by 30 Punjab unit. Police Post Mankote, doctors and locals were informed.
The girl has been identified as Uzma Kousar, daughter of Gulsaid, resident of Balnoi. Her family has been informed and her condition is stated to be stable, they added.
Meanwhile, people have appreciated the Army for saving a life.
