Srinagar, Sep 22: AAP MLA Mehraj Malik created noisy scenes in the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly on Tuesday after he was not allowed to raise a supplementary question on the amnesty granted to people on electricity bills.
Speaker Abdul Rahim Rather did not allow Malik to raise the supplementary question and asked him to return to his seat.
Infuriated by the denial, Malik shouted in the House, “Assembly is not anybody’s jageer.”
As Malik continued to create a ruckus, the Speaker warned him to “behave properly” or face action.
The Speaker later clarified the House that a committee had earlier decided that supplementary questions would be raised only by members who had asked the primary question.
“This member (Malik) did not behave properly. I resisted a lot, otherwise I would have taught him a lesson. He doesn’t know how to behave in the House,” the Speaker said.
