Bandipora MVD cracks whip on overloaded vehicles, warns of stricter action

In a major enforcement drive aimed at improving road safety and curbing traffic violations, the Motor Vehicle Department (MVD) Bandipora seized 13 driving licenses (DLs) and 3 registration certificates (RCs) on Thursday. Additionally, fines totaling Rs. 13,000 were collected from offenders.

The drive, conducted across various parts of Bandipora district, targeted traffic violations such as; driving without a license, overloading of vehicles, reckless driving and speeding etc.

  1. Assistant Regional Transport Officer (ARTO) Bandipora, Bilal Ahmad Mir appealed to the public to abide by traffic rules and regulations for their own safety and the safety of others. 

The ARTO specifically cautioned against the dangers of overloading vehicles. He highlighted the dangers of overloading vehicles, emphasizing its potential to cause accidents and fatalities. He said that the department will adopt a ‘zero tolerance’ approach against overloading and will strictly deal with the offenders as per law.

ARTO assured the public that the enforcement wing of MVD Bandipora will remain vigilant, conducting regular drives and taking strict action against traffic violators. 

He appealed for public cooperation, urging individuals to report overloaded vehicles by contacting the department on the designated helpline: 9596051716.
