Srinagar: Basit Hayat Zargar, RLD Youth President and representative President of the World NRI Minority Federation for Jammu & Kashmir and Leh Ladakh, has strongly appreciated the recent actions taken by Srinagar Police against drug peddling, calling them timely, courageous, and essential for protecting the future of the city’s youth.
In a statement to Kashmir Pen, Zargar specially praised SSP Srinagar, Dr. G. V. Sundeep Chakravarthy IPS, for his firm leadership and focused strategy in tackling the growing menace of narcotics. He said that the sustained crackdown on traffickers reflects professionalism and a deep sense of responsibility toward society. “Such decisive steps strengthen public trust and send a clear message that Srinagar will not compromise when it comes to safeguarding its young generation,” Zargar remarked.
He further noted that IPS Dr. Chakravarthy’s transparent style of policing, sharp intelligence-based operations, and commitment to community engagement have earned him wide respect among citizens. According to Zargar, the consistent action against criminal networks has boosted confidence and shown that law-enforcement agencies are serious about creating a safer environment for all.
Calling drug abuse one of the most serious challenges facing society today, Zargar urged parents, teachers, community leaders, and young people to extend full cooperation to the police and support awareness efforts at the grassroots level. He stressed that the fight against drugs requires collective responsibility and sustained public participation.
Zargar concluded by congratulating the entire Srinagar Police team for their dedication and appealed for continued vigilance so that Srinagar can move steadily toward a healthier, safer, and drug-free future.
