Srinagar, October 24: In a mix of political calculation and light-hearted camaraderie, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah held a series of last-minute strategy sessions with National Conference (NC) leaders and alliance partners ahead of Friday’s crucial Rajya Sabha elections in Jammu and Kashmir.
According to sources, the discussions largely centred on securing the crucial votes of independent MLAs, whose support could prove decisive in determining the outcome of the four Upper House seats up for grabs.
Inside the Chief Minister’s office, located within the Assembly complex, the atmosphere was a blend of intensity and ease — with strategy sheets spread across tables and a steady flow of ‘pakoras’ and ‘chai’ keeping the team energised.
In a candid moment, Omar Abdullah shared a glimpse of the scene on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), posting pictures from his office with the caption:
“Behind the scenes in my office in the Assembly complex while we work out the arithmetic and strategy of the Rajya Sabha polls.”
The National Conference, supported by its alliance partners, has expressed strong confidence in winning all four Rajya Sabha seats. Voting for the elections was underway through the day, with results expected to be announced later in the evening.
