In the latest episode of Bigg Boss 14 salman Khan while reprimanding Rahul Vaidya on his ‘nepotism’ comment went on to mention a few names from the film industry. He gives his opinion on the statement made by Rahul saying that if someone’s parents have done something for the child, would that be called ‘nepotism’?
Salman gives an example of Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt, Sunny Deol, Rishi Kapoor who were launched in the industry by their father’s, but are still relevant because the audience likes them and wants to see them. He puts up a question saying ‘kya inne galat kia?
The actor further mentioned Ajay Devgn calling him as his friend and brother, whose father was an action director, who later became a director. And praises Ajay saying, “Ajay Devgn is today one of the greatest stars.”
Salman took names of his fellow actors shah rukh Khan and mentioned that he came from Delhi and next he mentioned Akshau Kumar as ‘Akki’, who had no connections in the industry when they entered. Following this he says, “mehnat ke dum par ye sab 20-30 saal tike hue hai they are here for such a long time because of their hard work.”
The host also mentions Jackie Shroff’s name and shares that he was spotted by the late Dev Anand. He went ahead and said, “jisme wo baat hai wo chalega, aur jisme baat nahi hai wo apni khud ki tijori ghar ki tijori maata-pita ki tijori khaali karke jayega (one who possesses talent will sustain in the industry, and one who doesn’t will not.)”
Salman Khan narrated his own story and told that he himself asked his father that so many producers and directors come to him, why doesn’t he recommend him to someone. To which his father had replied saying that if they would have found some potential in you, then they would have said it straight away to offer you a film. Why would he himself go and ask them to give Salman a break?
He added that that was the point of time when he decided to work hard for himself. So that he would get credits for his own work. He explained saying that it is all about the audience, it is in their hands to either accept or reject an artist.
Furthermore, Salman added up to his explanation about ‘nepotism’ with a simple example of a grocer, who lets his son handle his shop and not asks anybody else to do it for him.
The contestant later praised Salman for his explanation. Jaan Kumar Sanu on whom the ‘nepotism’ comment was made thanked him and he also got emotional when Salman stated that he is here because of his mother. ( TOI )
