What will happen if your bank account is credited with crores of rupees out of nowhere? You’ll definitely be on cloud nine. An elderly man from Bihar found himself in a similar situation when he received over Rs 52 crore in his pension account. His only appeal to the government was: “Provide us with some of this amount so that we can spend the rest of our lives smoothly”.

Ram Bahadur Shah, who hails from a village under the Katihar police station area in the Muzaffarpur district, jumped out of his skin when a Customer Service Point (CSP) official told him that he had more than Rs 52 crore credited to his account. Both the man and the officer were taken by surprise after the matter was discovered.

Ram Bahadur Shah, a farmer, said he had reached the nearby CSP officer to get his pension account checked. When he submitted his Aadhaar card and punched his thumb for verification, the account balance came out to be more than Rs 52 crore.

“We were shocked to hear this and wondered where the amount had come from,” Ram Bahadur Shah said.

“We have spent our lives farming. I only appeal to the government to give us some of this amount so that we can spend the rest of our lives smoothly.”

Ram Bahadur Shah’s son Sujit Kumar Gupta said more than Rs 52 crore was credited to his father’s account.

“We are worried over the amount….We demand that the government should help us as we are farmers and belong to a poor family,” Sujit Kumar Gupta said.

Meanwhile, Sub-Inspector Manoj Pander, Katra police station, said, “At present, we have informed local authorities about the matter. Police will investigate the matter and question the officer of the concerned bank in which he [Ram Bahadur Shah] has an account.”

This is not the first time that a large amount of money was transferred to random people’s accounts in Bihar. Earlier, two school student in the stat’s Katihar distrit woke up to find over Rs 900 crore in their accounts.

Another case was reported from Bihar’s Khagaria where a resident recieved Rs 1.61. Lakh in his account after a bank error. He later refused to let go of the money saying it was sent by Prime Minister Narendra Modi as financial aid. ( Indian Today )
