Srinagar 11 Mar 2020

The Bhartiya Janta Party, General Secretary (Organisation), Ashok Koul on Tuesday said his party will reach out to needy and poor people of Jammu and Kashmir.

“We will reach out to every needy and poor person,” Kaul said while addressing a convention of Gujjar, Bakerwalls and people from Other Backward Classes here.

He alleged that Gujjars and Bakerwals have been cheated by National Conference, PDP and Congress over the years.

”Only BJP has given you justice. Article 370 has been removed so that you get political reservation in J&K,” Koul said. “You can also send your representatives to Assembly now.”

The senior BJP leader asked the party leaders to strengthen the organization at grassroots level.

“Our cadre should reach out to every poor and last man of the society to help them,” he said. “These people should get the advantages of the centrally sponsored schemes.”

He thanked Gujjar and Bakerwal community members who attended the gathering. “Now you people are entitled to all rights that are guaranteed to other communities across the country,” he said adding while the ST communities enjoyed political reservation in states which have tribal population, their counterparts in J&K were deprived of the right by successive governments.

Among others who attened the function included district President, Srinagar, Arif Raja; Programme Coordinator, Kashmir, Ashok Bhat; South Kashmir In charge, Veer Saraf; media in charge, Manzoor Bhat and spokesman Altaf Thakur.

Meanwhile on the direction of Koul, the BJP member Ruheena Shahzad distributed free face masks among patients and attendants at Trauma Hospital Kangan in Ganderbal district amid the Coronavirus scare.
