Body recovered from Baba Demb canal in Srinagar, investigation launched

Srinagar, July 30 : An unidentified body was recovered from a water canal in the Baba Demb area of Srinagar on Thursday morning, eyewitnesses said.

An eyewitness told the news agency that the body was found wrapped in a bathtub and floating in the canal, following which locals informed the police.

He said that soon after receiving the information, a police team rushed to the spot and is examining the body while awaiting the arrival of the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) team.

Police have launched an investigation to ascertain the identity of the deceased and the circumstances surrounding the incident. Further details are awaited.
