Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti on Thursday said the braid-chopping incidents are an attempt to undermine the dignity of women in the state.
“Braid chopping incidents are attempts to create mass hysteria and undermine the dignity of the women in the state,” tweeted Mehbooba.
She said the government will ensure that motives behind these attacks are found.
“Government will ensure steps are taken to find the motives behind these attacks,” she said, in another tweet.
While separatists have blamed the government for the braid-chopping, authorities said they are investigating the “role of anti-national elements benefitting from protests” triggered by these acts.
Police have said that 100 braid chopping incidents have taken place in the Valley while ruing the “lack of co-operation” from the members of public.
