Authorities in Budgam have commenced snow clearance operations across the district to ensure uninterrupted access to roads for the public and essential services amidst the ongoing snowfall.
Akshay Labroo, the Deputy Commissioner of Budgam, informed Rising Kashmir that snow clearance efforts have already commenced in the district. The snow clearance machines have been deployed to clear snow from all roads throughout the district.
“The roads managed by the Mechanical Engineering Department are currently undergoing snow removal. Similarly, the Roads and Buildings Department is also engaged in clearing snow from their respective roads. In municipal areas, the Municipality Committee has initiated snow clearance operations as well,” Deputy Commissioner said.
He further said that emergency control rooms have been established for snow clearance operations, as well as for electricity, health, and fire and emergency services. These control rooms are operational at all tehsil, sub-division, and municipal levels. In case of any emergencies, residents can reach out to their control rooms, where assistance will be provided for emergency calls and medical needs.
“A health control room has also been set up, overseen by the Chief Medical Officer of Budgam. This facility is prepared to offer necessary assistance and direct help to patients requiring medical attention,” Labroo added.
Additionally, he noted that the Budgam police have established control rooms to provide support to the public throughout the district. The district administration is in close coordination with the Budgam police to ensure that all necessary assistance is available to the community through the established control rooms.
