Casual employees councils and committees of the valley on Saturday staged a sit-in protest in different areas of Kashmir as support of their problems and demanded the government that all casual employees should be regularised immediately and our legitimate demands must be met.

The largest protest sit-in was held in Municipal Council Sopore under the chairmanship of District President Mir Zahid and Khazir Muhammad Sheikh, a leading member of the forum, along with his employees took part in it and set a living example of unity.

Shabbir Ahmed, a senior and capable leader of the forum, led the committee and the employees of the committees and took part in it.

Sources said that employees of Municipal committee’s of Handwara, Kapwara, Pahalgam, Devsar, Kulgam, Bandipora, Sumbal, Uri, Khansahib, Beerwah, Pampore and many other places pressed for their demands.

Protests were registered all over the place and the employees and officials were urged to continue their struggle under one banner at least by asking their conscience and keeping in view their condition, maintaining unity and harmony.

They demanded that authorities must regularise us at an earliest as we have been protesting in favour of demands and despite repeated promises our demands have never met.

Authorities must regularise us, issue salaries on time, they said, adding that no new recruitment is acceptable until demands of casual labours aren’t met.
