SHAFQAT SHEIKH
The cultural cell which was established more than a decade ago in education department to give fillip to cultural activities and prepare the students for National holidays has been finally shifted to the office of CEO Kishtwar from its temporary accommodation in GMS Kishtwar.
It is pertinent to mention here that Cultural Cell Kishtwar is functioning from the premises of GMS Kishtwar and has also occupied the play ground of the school in the backyard leaving small kids to be cramped inside the building leaving no space for outdoor and recreational activities of the students. The school administration had requested the authorities time and again but to no avail but the incumbent CEO Rashpal Singh took serious note of the problem and finally ordered its shifting from the premises to leave the space for students.
It bears mention here that school had written to CEO Kishtwar for the space of the backyard which was granted by the CEO that could facilitate the celebrations of independence day in the school premises itself. The tricolour was hoisted with pomp and show giving much required relief to students and school staff.
The CEO made a personal visit to school premises and found the concern of school genuine and occupation in violation of the rules creating noise pollution and disturbing the studies of the poor students. The cultural cell has been ordered to shift from the premises to the office of CEO Kishtwar where a suitable place has been provided like other districts of the Union Territory.
