Srinagar, October 3: The Central Government Pensioners Welfare Association (CGPWA), Kashmir, in collaboration with the Central Government Health Scheme (CGHS) Wellness Centre, Sanat Nagar, organised a cleanliness drive on the eve of the anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi.
The drive was led by CGPWA Kashmir General Secretary G.M. Wani Dilshad and members of the association, along with a team from the CGHS Wellness Centre headed by CMO Dr. Peerzada Anhaar.
As part of the initiative, the teams undertook extensive cleaning of the premises of the Mini Maternity Hospital and the CGHS Wellness Centre at Sanat Nagar, removing waste and other unwanted material from the surroundings.
During the drive, the teams also destroyed a large quantity of cannabis (bhang) found growing in the area.
Speaking on the occasion, the participants stressed that cleanliness of domestic and institutional surroundings should not be treated as a one-day activity. They said maintaining clean surroundings must become part of the daily routine and reflect a collective sense of civic responsibility and the rich cultural values associated with Mahatma Gandhi’s message of cleanliness.
The organisers said such initiatives would continue to encourage public participation in keeping neighbourhoods and public institutions clean and healthy.
