Srinagar, July 1: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah today held a crucial meeting with a delegation of Dal Lake stakeholders led by MLA Zadibal, Tanvir Sadiq, to deliberate on pressing concerns surrounding the lake’s preservation, licensing issues, and the rehabilitation of affected communities.

During the interaction, the delegation submitted a detailed memorandum highlighting the challenges faced by the local population dependent on the lake for their livelihood. Issues ranged from delays in rehabilitation to complications in licensing and environmental degradation.

“We are committed to addressing these concerns and safeguarding Dal Lake’s ecological and cultural legacy,” said CM Omar Abdullah, reaffirming his government’s dedication to the sustainable development of the iconic waterbody and the well-being of its communities.

The meeting is part of a broader effort to ensure stakeholder participation in shaping policies for the conservation of Kashmir’s natural heritage | Kashmir Pen
