Srinagar, June 27 – Jammu & Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah today addressed the ‘J&K Tourism Revival Dialogue’ organized jointly by FICCI and the Department of Tourism, J&K at the Sher-i-Kashmir International Conference Centre (SKICC) in Srinagar. The high-profile event brought together stakeholders from across India’s tourism and hospitality sectors to discuss a roadmap for the Union Territory’s tourism resurgence.
In his keynote address, CM Omar Abdullah emphasized the urgent need to re-establish Jammu & Kashmir as India’s leading tourism destination, stating, “It is our duty to restore J&K as India’s top tourism destination and ensure it stays there.”
He reaffirmed his government’s commitment to sustainable tourism practices, robust infrastructure development, and inclusive policies that ensure meaningful participation of local communities. “Tourism must be more than numbers — it must enrich lives, preserve heritage, and empower people,” the Chief Minister noted.
The event focused on diverse tourism verticals such as Golf Tourism, Film Tourism, MICE, Destination Weddings, and Experiential Travel, with experts and officials charting strategies to promote year-round, sustainable travel to the region.
