Poonch, Nov 26: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Wednesday chaired a high-level review meeting to assess the overall development profile of Poonch district, with a focus on the pace of execution, financial progress and on-ground outcomes of ongoing projects.
During the review, the Chief Minister took a detailed appraisal of the physical and financial status of works under various sectors, emphasising that development must translate into visible improvements in public infrastructure and services.
He directed all departments to ensure time-bound completion, full and timely utilisation of sanctioned funds, and strict compliance with execution deadlines. The Chief Minister further stressed accountability, transparency, and measurable delivery in all public works.
“Development cannot remain on paper—it must reflect in people’s lives. Every sanctioned project must move with urgency and responsibility,” CM Abdullah stated.
The meeting was attended by Cabinet Ministers, the Advisor to the Chief Minister, the District Development Council (DDC) Chairperson, and Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs) from Poonch district.
Officials present assured the government that corrective mechanisms and monitoring systems are being strengthened to accelerate progress and resolve bottlenecks in implementation.
With multiple strategic road, power, education, tourism, and infrastructure projects underway in the region, the administration reiterated its commitment to ensuring improved connectivity, enhanced public services, and equitable development across the border district | Kashmir Pen
