Srinagar | July 23: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah today chaired a high-level meeting to comprehensively review the progress of major Hydroelectric and Renewable Energy projects across Jammu & Kashmir.

The meeting focused on fast-tracking the implementation of key energy initiatives, with the objective of unlocking the Union Territory’s full power potential. CM Omar Abdullah underscored the significance of these projects in fuelling sustainable development and ensuring long-term energy security for the people of J&K.

“Our focus is clear — to harness J&K’s abundant natural resources efficiently and responsibly. These energy projects are not just infrastructural undertakings but cornerstones of our vision for a self-reliant and energy-secure Jammu & Kashmir,” the Chief Minister stated during the review.

He directed concerned departments and executing agencies to remove bottlenecks, adhere to project timelines, and ensure inter-departmental coordination for expeditious completion.

The review included updates on hydroelectric projects under various stages of construction and planning, as well as the integration of solar and wind energy initiatives aimed at diversifying the region’s energy mix.
