Srinagar, Oct 16: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has criticised the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for what he termed as attempts to politically condition the restoration of Jammu and Kashmir’s statehood.
Speaking under the hashtag #OmarSpeaks, the Chief Minister said, “They are compelling us to join hands with them to restore statehood, but BJP never said in Parliament or in any of their speeches that statehood would be restored only if the Chief Minister is from their party.”
He reiterated that the BJP had clearly committed to restoring statehood in a three-step process, adding that there were “no ifs and no buts” in that assurance.
