CM Omar congratulates two Kani Shawl artisans for bagging National Handloom Award

Srinagar, Aug 10: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah congratulated two Kani Shawl artisans Manzoor Ahmad Hajam and Fayaz Ahmad Wani on being conferred the prestigious National Handloom Award by the President of India.

The two weavers from Jammu and Kashmir have been honoured for their exceptional craftsmanship in weaving the exquisite Chanddar Kani Shawl.

The Chief Minister said their achievement is a celebration of the timeless legacy and artistic excellence of J&K’s handloom tradition.

He added that the government remains committed to empowering local artisans, preserving the region’s traditional heritage and promoting indigenous crafts on national and global platforms.
