‘CM’s interaction in Kulgam was just a PDP function’ – Sakina Ittoo
‘Dearth of ration and dismal power scenario an indictment of the Government’
Chawalgam, Kulgam | Monday, 04 December 2017: Senior National Conference Leader and Former Cabinet Minister, Ms. Sakina Ittoo on Sunday lashed out at the Chief Minister and the PDP-BJP Government for wasting the exchequer’s valuable resources and time in conducting a futile and meaningless photo-op exercise in the shape of the CM’s ‘Darbars’ and said these events were glorified party functions being held while using the resources and money of the Government. “The Chief Minister’s event in Kulgam was just a PDP party function and the CM did not pay any heed to the dismal administrative scenario and chaos that Kulgam District was reeling under”, Sakina Ittoo said while addressing a workers’ meeting at Chawalgam on Sunday.
Lashing out at the State Government, the Senior NC Leader who is also the Party’s South Zone President, said the unprecedented dearth of basic rations and the dismal power scenario in Kulgam District was a loud and clear indictment of the Government – one that cannot be washed away with such photo-opportunities. “The entire Kulgam District is reeling under darkness with unscheduled power cuts where some villages have to go without electricity for days at end. Our ration shops are without basic ration while the Chief Minister is wasting precious tax-payers’ money in disrupting the administrative system for her political photo-opportunities. One would have welcome this exercise had the intention been noble and productive but tragically these are purely PDP events with the bureaucracy and administration being instructed to work for workers and office-bearers of a particular political party”, Ittoo added while addressing the meeting.
The Senior NC Leader said the PDP-BJP Government’s step-motherly treatment towards Kulgam District was tragic and highly condemnable. “Despite repeated reports in the media and despite countless attempts of pressing issues being raised by the people of Kulgam, the Chief Minister has chosen to turn a deaf ear towards these demands. The minor hope that the Chief Minister’s visit and event in Kulgam would at least result in some relief to the people was also dashed as there was practically no productive output of her visit. In light of this, it has yet again become evidently clear that these visits are purely political photo-opportunities aimed at misleading not just PDP’s patrons in New Delhi but also the people of the State”, Sakina Itoo further said.
The Former Cabinet Minister said the PDP-BJP Government had failed on both the political and the administrative front and had subjected the people of the State to unprecedented suffering and deprivation. “This alliance is squarely responsible for the deteriorating situation in the Valley and under this Government our governance has taken a severe hit. The state of chaos and confusion has resulted in lapsed funds, incomplete public works and the crumbling of our local economy. The Chief Minister should introspect rather than investing her time in theatrics and photo-opportunities”, the NC Leader added.
