J&K Pradesh Congress President GA Mir Monday called on party President, Sonia Gandhi at Delhi and briefed her about prevailing situation in the Union Territory.
Mir also met leader of opposition in Rajya Sabha, Ghulam Nabi Azad and General Secretary, AICC, Ambika Soni and discussed various significant issues pertaining to J&K, a statement said.
It said both Gandhi and Mir held threadbare discussion on overall socio-political scenario in Jammu and Kashmir, besides discussing various issues of public importance. Mir also briefed Gandhi about new political developments in J&K.
The Congress President expressed anguish over the losses caused to people especially businessmen, traders, tourism sector and people in general in the aftermath of abrogation of Art 370, said the statement.
Gandhi told Mir that she was concerned about the wellbeing of people of J&K and will continue to work for their development and safety.
Mir also briefed Gandhi about organizational affairs and activities in J&K and also informed her about the restrictions imposed on political movements of Congress leaders in Jammu and Kashmir since August 5 last year.
He also discussed various issues pertaining to Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh with Azad and Soni in separate meetings. The leaders expressed concern over the socio, political and security situation obtaining in J&K, the statement said.
