Cop injured in SMHS attack succumbs; toll two

A policeman who was wounded in a militant attack on a police party accompanying prisoners at SMHS hospital in Srinagar on Tuesday succumbed, taking the toll to two.

A Lashkar militant, identified as Naveed Jat, escaped after militants attacked the police party escorting him for a medical check-up at SMHS today, leaving a cop dead and another injured.

The cop, identified as Babar Ahmad of Bradi Shangus Anantnag, was injured in the attack. He succumbed at the hospital.

Earlier, another cop Mushtaq Ahmad died in the attack.
