A police was injured when suspected militants attacked a post outside Sufi shrine at Char-e-Sharief in central Kashmir’s Budgam district on Sunday afternoon. The militants also decamped with a with a service rifle (SLR) of the policeman, sources said.

The injured cop, identified as Kultair Singh, has been admitted to a hospital where was taken by fellow colleagues soon after the attack.

SSP Budgam Tejinder Singh confirmed the attack and said that investigation have been taken up after registering a case under relevant sections of law.

Meanwhile, government forces also cordoned off the entire area to nab the attackers. When this report was filed, the searches in the area were going on.
