 Srinagar, Jun 24 : A court in central Kashmir’s Budgam district has ordered the release of a Power Development Department (PDD) official from civil imprisonment after the department furnished an undertaking to comply with a Lok Adalat award, according to an official court document.

The release order was issued by the Court of the Additional Special Mobile Magistrate, Beerwah, in a case filed by Gulzar Ahmad Zargar of Utligam Beerwah against the Assistant Executive Engineer (AEE), PDD Beerwah.

According to the release docket, the Executive Engineer of the department submitted an undertaking on behalf of the respondent, assuring compliance with a Lok Adalat award passed by the Tehsil Legal Services Committee, Beerwah, on December 6, 2023.

Following the undertaking, the court directed the authorities at Central Jail Srinagar to release the respondent from civil imprisonment.

The court also directed jail authorities to return the diet expenses to the court after deducting the period of detention and forward the amount under proper seal and signature.(KNS)
