The shopkeepers of Court Road on Monday staged a protest against the traffic department, alleging harassment and unnecessary challans to their customers.

Talking to the news agency, General Secretary Lal Chowk Shopkeepers Association, Sheikh Tasaduq said, “Whenever we open our shops in morning, the traffic police start fining the customers for parking their vehicles outside their shops.”

He said that as a result of the challans, the customers don’t stop outside their shops for shopping now, adding that said “if things are going to be like this, we will continue our protests.”

“We had talked to SP Traffic regarding this but there has been no solution to redressal to our grievances,” the protesters said and appealed the traffic department and concerned authorities to allow the customers to park their vehicles of some minutes at least so that their business is not affected—(KNO)
