Ten days after the lockdown curbs were eased, the Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory has recorded over 1500 fresh COVID cases while as the government stated that the positive cases have witnessed surge since the unlock begins. Officials told the news agency that in the last ten days, 1506 fresh cases have been detected in Jammu and Kashmir.

Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir, Pandurang Kondbarao Pole told that the COVID cases across Jammu and Kashmir are crossing 100-mark on every passing day, which indicates that the cases have witnessed a surge after the unlock begins. He added that as the movement of people increases, the number of cases will certainly go up.

“The number of cases depends upon the movement of people,” he said. Pole further told that during the lockdown, the 30-40 cases in general were being detected on a regular basis, but since the unlock begins, the number is crossing 100-mark regularly.

He said that the lockdown has ended but the Coronavirus is there, adding that the movement of people is the reason behind the surge in the positive COVID cases. Pertinently, the unlock begun on June 13 after three-month-lockdown in wake of COVID-19 outbreak in Jammu and Kashmir that so far claimed over 85 lives and infected over 6000 people in the Union Territory—(KNO)
