COVID-19 aftermath: DC B’la chairs meeting of several trade bodies at Sopore Discusses various measures regarding COVID-19 lockdown in view of Eid ul Fitr

BARAMULLA, MAY 13 2020

Deputy Commissioner Baramulla, Dr G N Itoo today chaired a meeting of several trade bodies and others associated with commercial activities to discuss various measures regarding COVID-19 lockdown and advisories in the wake of forthcoming festive occasion of Eid ul Fitr.

The meeting was attended by ADC Sopore, representatives of various trade bodies including Sopore Economic Alliance, Traders Federation Sopore, Sopore Petrol Pump Association and other concerned stakeholders.

On the occasion, a threadbare discussion with regard to smooth celebration of Eid ul Fitr viz-a-viz COVID-19 Pandemic was held wherein Dr Itoo stressed for following all the related health advisories pertaining to the pandemic so that any eventuality is mitigated.

He emphasized upon these trade bodies to contribute towards social service and play their humanitarian role at this critical juncture as there are several families who suffered drastically due to lockdown. DDC also exhorted upon them not to neglect the poor and needy ones in their respective domains so that they too participate in the festival.

Meanwhile, various issues were also discussed during which these representatives demanded advance screening of bakers, butchers, vegetable vendors and others associated with the dealing of essential items so that any kind of risk is averted. They also assured the DC that they shall play positive role during the present circumstances.
