Srinagar, Apr 11 : Like other parts of the country, the Covid-19 mock drills were held across hospitals in Jammu and Kashmir for the second day for an emergency response to ensure medical equipment and other infrastructure are functioning properly.

A health official told news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), that amid a rise in cases, the Covid-19 preparedness-related mock drills were conducted on Tuesday in different health institutions across J&K.
“All the PMCs, Directors, CMOs and Medical Superintendents conducted the mock drills to ensure the operational readiness of the Covid-dedicated facilities, with a specific focus on oxygen plants, ventilators, logistics and human resources,” he said.
“We have checked oxygen supplies, facilities, oxygen concentrators and plants, cylinders, ICU facilities, Covid-19 wards, testing facilities, drugs and other related facilities,” he said.
Notably, Mock drill is a trial run conducted to check how the health department and staff manages an emergency using available resources and hospital protocols to avert any chaotic situation.

A top health official said that doctors at the hospitals tested the equipment, oxygen concentrators and other facilities.
He said that besides checking equipment and oxygen concentrators, they reviewed the overall preparedness to tackle the Covid-19 situation.
He said that drills were carried out in a phased manner on two days to ensure that all healthcare facilities are tested thoroughly.
“The mock drills are an important exercise that help us to assess the preparedness of healthcare facilities and frontline workers to handle COVID-19 situations. We are confident that the drills will help us identify any gaps in our preparedness and take corrective measures to ensure that we are better equipped to handle a surge in cases,” he said.
He said that department is fully prepared to tackle any eventuality in case of surge in Covid-19 cases
He said that if Covid appropriate behavior is being followed by the people there won’t be much increase in the Covid-19 cases.
He further added that precautions are needed to be taken at all levels and people should maintain the SoP.
Notably Secretary Health had directed all the heads of the institutions to be in the ready mode and check medical equipment and other infrastructure were functioning properly.
The mock drills were held to ensure the operational readiness of the Covid-dedicated facilities, with a specific focus on oxygen plants, ventilators, logistics and human resources, he said.
“The concerned officials and officers have been asked to remain alert and continue the testing of suspected cases in all the hospitals,” he said
