Strict curfew has been imposed in Srinagar amd other districts of Jammu and Kashmir on the eve of Eid-ul-Fitr on Thursday in order to contain the spread of virus.

According to the news agency, witnesses said that police and paramilitary troopers have been deployed in strength on roads across Srinagar.

They said the roads have been blocked at several places, saying that concertina wires have been erected on main roads, thus halted the vehicular movement.

Notably, the government had already announced that there shall be no relaxation in restriction on Eid day.

The restrictions continued to remain in place in Jammu and Kashmir for the 14th straight day to prevent the virus from spreading. The government has announced Corona Curfew across Jammu and Kashmir till May 17.

However, the congregational Eid prayers were not held today at major shrines, Majids and Eidgahs across the Union Territory.

The Eid prayers were not today held at Dargah Hazratbal, historic Jamia Masjid amd other Masjids and shrines across the UT in wake of the lockdown imposed the government due to spike in COVID cases—(KNO)
