COVID-19: Third deceased laid to rest, buried as per MHA guidelines

Bandipora, Apr 07 : A 60-year-old man, who died due to Coronavirus was on Tuesday laid to rest in Gund-Jehangeer village of Hajin area in north Kashmir’s Bandipora district.

Nodal Officer for Covid-19 Sumbal, Syed Shahnawaz that five people including close relatives of the deceased were allowed to participate in the funeral prayers, which took place at his native village in Gund-Jahangeer, after wearing proper protective equipment.

The deceased was admitted in SMHS hospital in Srinagar a days ago after he developed symptoms of COVID-19 but later he was tested positive for Coronavirus. He was also suffering from heart disease and high blood pressure.

The volunteers who handled the burial, followed standard precautions, wearing masks and gloves, he added.

Relatives said the deceased was laid to rest at around 08 30 pm this evening. Officials said the large gathering was not allowed at the burial ground as a social distancing measure.

A senior doctor told-KNO that deceased had no travel history or contact with any Covid-19 patient.

As per the guidelines laid by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), no bathing, kissing and hugging of deceased COVID-19 patient is allowed and same was followed in this case also
