A CRPF personnel on Sunday shot himself dead in Gund area of central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district, official sources said.

Quoting the sources, news agency reported that the paramilitary force personnel of 118 Battalion identified as Deonath Yadav, 41, on of Surat Yadav a resident of Mirzapur UP ended his life by shooting himself with his service rifle in the area. He died on the spot, sources said.

A police official told that the proceedings have been launched into the incident. It was not immediately known what made the trooper take the extreme step.
