Srinagar, Oct 2 : National Conference leader and MLA Zadibal Tanveer Sadiq on Friday raised the issue of daily wagers in Jammu and Kashmir, saying the report on them has been inordinately delayed.
Sadiq was speaking to reporters, as per , on the sidelines of inauguration of a Bridal Lounge in Gojwara, Srinagar.
He said the daily wagers issue is very important and the report was to be given to Chief Secretary within six months.
“Today one year has passed but the report has not come. We are working in an atmosphere where the report has still not reached the Chief Minister. I hope as Chief Secretary’s tenure is till October end, this month, he will submit the report with lasting impact for our poor daily wagers, otherwise whoever comes next will definitely do it,” he said.
Sadiq also demanded immediate resignation of Chief Election Commissioner, stating that Election Commission is being misused.
“Chief Election Commissioner should immediately resign and Government of India should understand that it is time to take his resignation, otherwise if it goes out of hand it will not be good for the country,” he said.
He said a law has been made to keep Election Commission in safe zone that no criminal charges will be filed against them after retirement.
“From this you can understand how the election office is being misused. There was a time when there was T N Seshan, such was the stature of Election Commission. Looking at today’s atmosphere and situation of the country, I feel the sooner they wake up from sleep the better,” he said.
Referring to Indian Express investigation, Sadiq said two election officers gave dissenting note which shows the reality and that is why a movement is going on across the country for resignation of CEC.
On Jammu and Kashmir, he said electoral rolls handling and delimitation was done intentionally to benefit BJP, but despite that they could not win seats from Kashmir.
