Jammu, Nov 2: Jammu and Kashmir Assembly Speaker Abdul Rahim Rather on Monday said the revival of the Darbar Move is considered decision aimed at respecting the aspirations of people across the Union Territory.

“There is nothing new about the Darbar Move. It was discontinued for some time but resumed last year. For six months, we served the people of the entire Jammu and Kashmir, and we will continue to do so,” Speaker Rather told reporters after the opening of the Darbar move offices.

He said the practice had been in place for years, except for a brief interruption, and the government had decided to revive it after due consideration.

Speaker Rather said the wishes of people from both Jammu and Kashmir regions must be respected, adding that people in Jammu had sought the restoration of the practice.

“Our brothers in Jammu wanted the Darbar Move to be revived, and therefore it should be revived,” he said.
