DC Ganderbal reviews customary mining scenario

A meeting with regard to allowing customary mining in the district was today convened by Deputy Commissioner (DC) Ganderbal, Shyambir here at VC Room.

During the meeting, threadbare discussion was held with regard to relevant guidelines issued by the Government from time to time regarding customary mining and various decisions were taken for identification and maintaining of such mining patches.The DC directed for constituting a joint team of all stake holding departments to identify the dry patches along river Sindh (identified blocks by Geology & Mining Department) where customary mining can be considered.The Police department and ARTO Ganderbal was asked to take strict action against the vehicles plying without number plate besides ARTO was asked to provide the list of JCB’s and other heavy machinery registered with the department.He also directed the DMO to establish Nakas/check points at the sensitive points to keep a strict and close vigil on illegal transportation and storage of minor minerals in the district.Interacting with the officers, the DC underlined the district administration’s commitment to ensuring responsible and regulated mining practices, promoting sustainable development while safeguarding environmental and legal considerations.
