The Jammu and Kashmir Election Commissioner has ordered re-polling in four polling stations in the poshna area of Poonch district.
The last phase of the election of the District Development Council will be held on December 19. After this announcement, the district administration has once again started making arrangements to vote here. Employees have been assigned responsibilities to conduct the voting.
Officials said that these four polling stations are located in the Poshana area of Surankote tehsil. The constituency falling in the Buffalias DDC constituency was voted in the first phase. But there was heavy snowfall a day before the voting. Even after this, the officials set up polling stations at alternate places to complete the polling process, but due to bad weather, people here could not vote even if they wanted. This was the reason that the turnout here was much less than fifty percent.
Local people and officials of social organizations appealed for the district administration Poonch to be re-voted here. Poonch administration also conveyed this demand of the people to the Jammu and Kashmir Election Commissioner. After considering all the circumstances, the Election Commissioner has ordered re-polling in four polling stations in Poshana, the last phase of the polling process i.e. December 19 in the two polling stations of Surchankot, Poshana-A and Poshana-B.
District Election Officer (DEO) and Deputy Commissioner (DC) Poonch Rahul Yadav also confirmed that voting will be held at these four polling stations during the eighth phase of the DDC election.
