The Deputy Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir, Nirmal Singh today made a veiled attack on coalition partner PDP for playing ‘politics’ over the alleged rape and murder of a minor girl in Kathua district of Jammu region.

Nirmal Singh while interacting with reporters, defended his two BJP colleagues in the government who had addressed a meeting of locals agitating for the past month demanding to hand over the highly sensitive case to the CBI for a free and fair trial.

“Those trying to politicise this gruesome crime are actually creating hurdles in providing justice to the victim,” the Deputy Chief Minister said without naming the PDP and the Opposition NC.

The Deputy Chief Minister said, “Our ministers had gone to meet locals who were demanding justice to the minor girl without any bias or harassment of innocent people.”

Earlier, Singh slammed Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti for making “judgemental remarks,” saying, “We have courts to decide about someone’s crime.”

“No politician or any official, at any high position, has right to make judgemental remarks on such sensitive issues. We have courts to decide as to who is criminal and who is innocent. It is not the job of any official or politician to make such remarks,” Jitendra Singh said while talking to a local news.
