No need to panic, precautions are must: Director

Director Health Services Kashmir (DHSK), Dr Mushtaq Ahmad Rather on Wednesday appealed to people across Kashmir to maintain Covid-19 appropriate behavior in view of the surge in Covid-19 cases.

The director said that people do not need to panic, however precautions are the only way to defeat Covid-19 from further spread.

He said we need the cooperation of the people to fight the pandemic and once people cooperate with the authorities then only we will be in a position to combat the virus. He said the fight with the virus is incomplete without cooperation of people.

Dr Mushtaq said that the first line of defense is mask, sanitation, hand hygiene and social distancing which should be maintained at any cost.

The director in his message said that vaccination centres are open at all the places and appealed to people to come forward for vaccination without any hesitation to help contain the spread of Covid-19.

He said that it has been seen that vaccinated people have shown less mortality and morbidity and their admissions are also less in hospitals.

The director said that they have already directed all CMOs, BMOs and Medical Superintendents across Kashmir to increase the IEC activities and get in touch with the public to generate awareness about the disease.

He said that people should avoid unnecessary travel, avoid gatherings and functions which could be the reason for the exponential growth of the virus.

The director also said that people do not need to worry about the variants saying that the doctors and research scientists are on job and are doing their bit to fight the pandemic. People need to take precautions which help in mitigation of Covid-19.

Pertinently, from the past few days there has been a surge in Covid-19 cases and after a gap of six months the cases have again gone up to 1600 on Wednesday and 1100 on Tuesday.
